If you have been reading our website or visited our shop you will see we list prices for our support packages, have fixed prices for servicing machines you drop in to us and generally are upfront with pricing in general.
Now I’ll be brutally honest, this probably makes us less money. A business structure that makes as much money as possible out of customers, pushes marketing hard and works the greasy corporate pole will make more cash. However its my belief that there is more in life than making a fast buck.
Our business is based on trust, a strong part of that from a customer’s point of view is that we are not set up to rip them off. We’ve been around for 24 years and now 18 at our Hazel Grove premises. No corporate re-arrangement, phoenix like resurrections with different names and the same owners, no county court judgements.
So lets get back to the question why no visible pricing. Is it laziness in website design? Lack of structure in what the company provides? Belief that a customer can’t possibly understand IT support enough for a price not to be custom any time? Will the pricing just look too expensive (probably!), or is every customer so different that fixed pricing is impossible?
I’d suggest it is a profit based decision. They will only give the price after a hard sell and some scary analysis of your situation. The true costs will likely emerge when you are already committed.
That’s just not how I like to do business.
